These are Some of The Top Companies to Watch in the Booming Psychedelics Industry

June 18, 2020 - Baystreet.ca

Some analysts peg the psychedelics industry with a $5 billion long-term valuation. In fact, such drugs are already proving to be a major game changer for millions of people all over the world. Already, countless studies have proven such drugs can treat a host of mental issues, like obsessive-compulsive disorder, PTSD, opioid addiction, alcoholism, depression, anxiety, and eating disorders. That includes the 30 million Americans with eating disorders, highlighted by Eating Recovery Center.

Better still, the medical community and even the US FDA are in support of psychedelics.

Researchers from the University of California Davis for example found that micro-dosing with psychedelic drugs for a prolonged period of time showed promise.  “Our study demonstrates that psychedelics can produce beneficial behavioral effects without drastically altering perception, which is a critical step towards producing viable medicines inspired by these compounds,” said David Olson of UC Davis, as quoted by Esquire. With such drugs a potential game-changer, some of the top companies to keep an eye on include The Yield Growth Corp. (CSE:BOSS)(OTC:BOSQF), Champignon Brands Inc. (OTC:SHRMF)(CSE:SHRM), Mind Medicine Inc. (OTC:MMEDF), Revive Therapeutics Ltd. (CSE:RVV)(OTC:RVVTF), and Mota Ventures Corp. (CSE:MOTA)(OTC:PEMTF).

The Yield Growth Corp. (CSE:BOSS)(OTCQB:BOSQF) BREAKING NEWSThe Yield Growth Corp. announced that its majority owned subsidiary NeonMind has filed an additional provisional patent application related to using psychedelics as medicine. The most recent patent application, filed on June 17, 2020 covers the administration of DMT to treat compulsive eating disorder and other illnesses.

DMT, or N,N-Dimethyltryptamine, is a derivative and structural analog of tryptamine. It is known as a hallucinogenic drug. It currently has no approved medical use, though DMT-containing plants are commonly used in indigenous Amazonian shamanic practice, and is sometimes found in the drink ayahuasca. DMT is found naturally in several plants including Mimosa tenuiflora, Diplopterys cabrerana, and Psychotria viridis. It is structurally similar to psilocin and its precursor psilocybin, a chemical found in so-called “magic mushrooms”.

“DMT is a very interesting molecule that acts on the same type of serotonin receptors which are known to regulate appetite,” says Dr. William Panenka, Chair of the NeonMind Scientific Advisory Board. “As part of our overall patent strategy, we are establishing defensible intellectual property around multiple compounds that act on these receptors and intend to follow this with rigorous clinical trial work to establish efficacy.”

The global projected market for weight loss and weight management treatment is estimated at USD $245 billion, according to MarketsandMarkets. The global projected market for diabetes treatment is estimated at $87 billion US Dollars, according to Modor Intelligence. Translational Life Sciences Inc. has a 20% interest as a co-collaborator on the development of NeonMind’s DMT related intellectual property.
